Doyle Hotel & Convenience Store

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 @ 11:24pm

Tonight I set out with a goal. I simply want 1 good picture of the Doyle Hotel in Duncannon. I got one! I also snapped off an interesting building next to it. It houses a Dry Cleaner and a Convenience store on the bottom and apartments on the second level. So, without further delay..

Business Card for Justin Time Photography

Monday, January 25th, 2010 @ 2:40am

Samantha and I had lunch last week with an old class mate from high school turned photographer and decided he’s the man for our upcoming wedding! Justin has great quality work and an amazing eye, capturing a lot of photos with style and grace! Turns out Justin is the same photographer I recently added to my clientele with his latest website coming soon). Tonight I wrapped up the design on his new business cards. Check them out!

New Client – JustinTime Photography

Monday, January 18th, 2010 @ 1:47pm

Before I even start, I’d like to apologize for my lapse in updates lately. I’m only a one person team (for now) and I’ve been doing a lot of work outside of my own website. A few nights ago I got a chance to finally introduce Samantha to one my favorite co-workers and her husband. This was topped off by watching my favorite local band, Adrian Blitzer. I may even have some collaborations with the band coming up in the future, so be sure to check my website and their MySpace page!

However, much of my time lately has been devoted to developing a website for a local photographer and friend, Justin Barlup. He just finished film school in Hollywood, CA and has moved back into the Central PA area to start his photography business. The website has not officially launched yet but it should be live in a few days, once all the bugs are worked out and the content is finished!

Google Nexus One – iPhone Killer?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010 @ 1:16pm

With the announcement of the Google Nexus One this week, many tech blogs and news companies are asking the same question. They all want to know if the Nexus One is the ‘iPhone Killer’ that we’ve all been waiting for. This completely boggles my mind! Firstly, the ‘Google Phone’ is in fact no different than their first phones, the myTouch 3G and the Droid. The device itself it’s manufactured by HTC, the same as the aforementioned devices, and it runs Google’s Android OS, also the same. So what makes the Nexus One the first ‘Google Phone’ and not the others? My assumption is that it’s just a marketing ploy to get more sales. The Nexus One runs on a Qualcomm 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, the same processor that LG’s newly announced Windows Mobile smartphone also runs on. Now let’s look back at HTC’s previous releases. Specifically, the Touch Pro 2. This device just simply destroys the iPhone and has been available for the better part of a year on every major carrier in the US and even foreign countries! Higher resolution screen, fully functional QWERTY hardware keyboard, better GPS support, no ridiculous service charges for using it, a touch screen that you can use with both a stylus and your finger nail, and this is all just the tip of the iceberg.

Having Microsoft Office built in, Adobe Acrobat, push email service and full connectivity to Google’s email, calendar, tasks and contact list, full web browsing, printing, replaceable batteries, stereo bluetooth, the simple ability to copy & paste! All of this comes standard on HTC’s Touch Pro 2 and is not possible on the iPhone. Even such things as the ability to receive MMS messages was not available on the iPhone for almost 2 years after it was released! The iPhone only supports up to HSDPA 3.6 and does not allow for 3G video calling. I don’t even have to tell you that the TP2 comes standard with both and even supports up to HSDPA 7.2! How about multitasking? What if you’re browsing a website and you get a text message? On the iPhone you have to exit your web browser just to read the message! With the TP2 you can minimize you’re browser, check your text message, even make a call, take a picture, right a report, get GPS directions and continue your web browsing!

If half of HTC’s devices got as much marketing and customer focus put behind them as the iPhone did, we wouldn’t have to hear uninformed reports asking us when the ‘iPhone Killer’ will come out. Instead, we would have heard about it last year when it did come out!
